On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of "Enjoy Jazz", the International Festival for Jazz offers you a variety of events around the genre of jazz and its adjacent genres for seven weeks. The cabaret festival Denke.schön, of the Kulturfensters Heidelberg, offers a variety of intellectual acuity, political bits and black comedy. Of the performers will be; Florian Schroeder, Martina Brandl, Martin Zingsheim, Andrea Bongers und Max Uthoff.

The international film festival Mannheim-Heidelberg gives young directors the opportunity to show their talents to a broad audience. Among the numerous film submissions, 30-40 films will be selected to celebrate their premiere at the Film Festival.

For the eleventh time, Heidelberg will become the center of queer culture in Germany for the month of May. The Queer Festival Heidelberg, offers a diverse program of concerts, theater, films, workshops and parties around the LSBTIQ community.

From the 15th to 19th of May, the Heidelberg Literature City will be hosting the event "Heidelberger Literaturtage". At the festival, you can experience a wide program with readings by renowned national and international authors, podium discussions, workshops and much more.

Three times a year (June 1st, July 13th and September 7th 2019), the city's landmark, the Heidelberg Castle, is bathed in a Bengali beacon. After the red-hot castle slowly fades, a display of breathtaking fireworks begins over the Neckar.
An optimal location where you can admire the castle lighting display, is at 22:15 o'clock on the banks of the Neckar, not far from the Hirschgasse.
