PHILOSOPHER'S WALK HEIDELBERG
The Philosopher's walk is about 2 km long and leads from the district Neuenheim up to the Heiligenberg. It reveals sweeping panoramic views of Heidelberg right up to the Rhein Neckar valley. The walk is easily accessible from the back of the hotel Hirschgasse. It is located on the opposite side of the castle on the Königstuhl and one of the most famous sights of Heidelberg.
The appellation is not owed to the mentioned philosophers but the students of Heidelberg who discovered the way for romantic strolls and undisturbed amour. The synonymous use of the word student and philosopher is originated from the time when every student had to study philosophy - the so called seven liberal arts - before starting their special studies.
